Public speaking is one of the top 10 fears that people have and is known as Glossophobia. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can help.
Some of the symptoms can include:
- Lack of confidence
- Profuse sweating
- Out of control anxiety and nerves – adrenalin rush
- A racing heartbeat
- Dizziness
- Breathing problems
All of these issues can be addressed by learning to calm the mind and in turn the body so that all the above symptoms are under control.
So why are people so frightened of public speaking? The fear of public speaking is sadly all to common.
There are many reasons and could include:
- being judged
- not feeling good enough
- a specific incident in the past that has not been resolved where we felt embarrassed.
That embarrassment and lack of confidence can come from many places , our families , teachers, friends –for some it might be that you are naturally an introvert and don’t like to be the centre of attention.
As human beings we have a fundamental need to be accepted by the larger group, particularly our peers and so within a public speaking context this fear can become LARGER THAN LIFE .
Can cognitive hypnotherapy help with public speaking?
Some of you may have experienced an incident at some point in your lives, related to feeling embarrassed, then when something similar to that experience appears it reminds our minds of that incident and we uncontrollably exhibit the same symptoms as we experienced the first time round. The fear of public speaking is a common fear.
We can clear up how that memory is being held in your mind so that it is held in a completely different way which means it will stop effecting you in the way it has been up to now. Hypnotherapy can break the thread that connects to that old memory so you no longer have the symptoms of that old memory.
For others it might mean work around developing self esteem and confidence as well as techniques to stay calm with your specific audience.
Everyone will have different reasons and I work with your specific needs and experiences.
Hypnotherapy and other related techniques can support your mind, to prepare itself to expect the very best.
Mental preparation and training your brain to expect the best helps your mind to prepare for a great talk, speech, announcement – whatever it might be for you.
Hypnotherapy is a great way of directing your mind to do exactly what it is you want to do.
Hypnotherapy helped me to conquer my fears of doing a practical exam – Shiatsu – I had failed twice as I had a tendency to disassociate as I was so frightened of the judgement of my teachers! – Like many others, for me, school was not a great teaching ground!
Hypnotherapy helped me get grounded and prepared enough to pass that exam, which I did.
Whatever it is for you cognitive hypnotherapy can help your mind relax and learn to expect the best – allowing you to bring yourself confidently into the situation and deliver the message you are there to share.
You may have heard of the three P’s:
Practical, Persistent, Practice Prevents Poor Performance
Cognitive Hypnotherapy helps your mind to mentally rehearse what it is you want to achieve and when your mind is aware of the direction you want to go in you are able to achieve exactly that.
Speaking with calm, confidence is possible when we rid ourselves of fears using cognitive hypnotherapy
